Mayan mystique meets urban chic at Hotel Maya, a waterfront boutique-style hotel situated across the harbor from downtown Long Beach. The client engaged ETA to develop an effective campaign that would bolster local weekend stays. Our out-of-the-box solution was to position the hotel as a local exotic escape with a character called the Little Mayan to be their goodwill ambassador—a small statue we sculpted and built using 3D digital imaging (and who now stands outside the hotel in a prime location for selfies). A fashionable merchandising line was created as well, featuring t-shirts, tank-tops, mugs, shot glasses, postcards, beach towels and magnets. ETA also works with Hotel Maya on an ongoing basis for various campaigns, such as Fuego’s passport to Latin America for the restaurant’s brunch series including billboards, print ads and social media.
